Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What type of Church is CBC Highland Park?
We are a Christ-centered interdenominational gathering of people from all walks of life, committed to loving Christ, each other and committed to fulfilling the Great Commission. The terms interdenominational and nondenominational are closely linked and are often used interchangeably. The subtle difference is that the nondenominational organization refuses affiliation with any particular Christian denomination while the Christ-centered interdenominational organization celebrates the strengths of many Christian denominations, including Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostal and other mainline denominations.
What can I expect if I attend a worship service?
Come casual and be prepared for a lot of smiles, handshakes and hugs. Also, relax in an incredible atmosphere of worship as you are challenged and encouraged through powerful messages shared by men and women. These men and women are gifted by Jesus as apostles, evangelists, prophets, pastors and teachers. Service times usually last about 90 minutes.
What does CBC Highland Park believe in?
Who we are and what we do are results of what we believe. We believe the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of the one and only God, our Heavenly Father. We believe God created us for relationship with Him, but, because of the wrong things we have done (our sin) we have broken that relationship. Because of God’s great love for us, He sent Jesus Christ, His Son, to earth as a human to live a sinless life and to pay the ultimate price for our sin so that our relationship with God can be restored. As a result, Christ lives His life through every believer. He is the Source of our lives. We do not live FOR Him; we live FROM Him.
Will the church ask me for money?
One aspect of our worship is to weekly give our tithe and offering. The Bible tells us God loves cheerful givers and so do we! Highland Park is supported financially by the people who have chosen to make it their church home. You won’t find us trying to squeeze cash out of you every time you walk through the door. Giving should never flow out of compulsion or guilt, but rather out of a joyous desire to love God and be a part of what He’s doing in and through the church.
What happens to the money people give?
CBC Highland Park is committed to being wise stewards of the financial gifts entrusted to us. Not only do we provide a facility and staff, we are committed to meeting needs in our community and around the world.
